With Nothing Left To Prove, Tom Brady Now Chases Brett Favre's Legendary Season

With five Super Bowl rings, four Super Bowl Most Valuable Player awards and two NFL MVPs under his belt, one would think that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has nothing else to prove. In fact just by looking at those numbers, there's really nothing else left for Tom Brady to prove on the field. But knowing Tom Brady and how competitive he is, there's always something or someone that keeps him motivated and that keeps him pushing to reach for higher goals. That someone is NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre.

When next season starts, Tom Brady is looking to outdo what Brett Favre has done in the NFL at the age of 40, according to a report from CBS Boston. Tom Brady will be turning 40 in August of this year.

Tom Brady during last season, at age 39, has already done what no other quarterback or any other NFL player for that matter, has done before. Tom Brady had an excellent season last year that it was simply unprecedented and unheard of before. No one in history even compares to what Tom Brady has done last year at the age of 39.

If you look at Tom Brady's numbers last season including the post season, Tom Brady was in a class on his own. Tom Brady was 384 for 574 for a 66.9% clip. Tom Brady threw for 4,691 yards, had 35 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Tom Brady's passer rating was 108.6. No one comes close. Of course a lot it has to do with Tom Brady being in the best shape of his career at the age of 39, via a report from the Bleacher Report.

But when it comes to the all-time list of accomplishments at the age of 40, Brett Favre is the king. If Tom Brady hopes to even breaking that record, he's got a tough road ahead of him.

Brett Favre retired at the age of 39 but decided to play again in 2009 at the age of 40. Brett Favre then went on to produce the greatest season of his career that even Tom Brady would even find difficult to do at the age 40.

During that season, Brett Favre was 363 for 531 for a 68.4% clip. Brett Favre threw for 4,202 yards, had 33 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Brett Favre's passer rating was 107.2. Tom Brady has a lot of work to do to even have a chance of beating those stats.

But then again, this is Tom Brady that we're talking about. The greatest quarterback of all time. If anyone can top that, it's Tom Brady.
