Adrian Peterson is leaving the Minnesota Vikings for free agency and has garnered a lot of interest for teams signing the former MVP. One of those teams is the New England Patriots which Adrian Peterson has considered to join even after taking a pay cut. But for the Patriots, Peterson may not be the perfect fit many have thought to be.

For New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, Adrian Peterson ticks a lot of the qualities a for Belichick's ideal player. Peterson is a veteran who is motivated to win and a castoff with something to prove who the desire to escape his troubled past. Unfortunately, Peterson may prove too much of a burden for the Patriot's to carry. Even with a reduced salary, Peterson may not be worth all the trouble he brings.

Boston Herald reports that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and president Jonathan Kraft aren't likely to endorse signing Adrian Peterson. While the New England Patriots have signed players with a shady past, Adrian Peterson presents a different scenario to them.

Adrian Peterson was charged with child abuse in 2014 to which according to Jonathan Kraft said he was "physically uncomfortable" listening to the details. Kraft finds Peterson's action to be unacceptable and abhorrent as reported by ESPN. It's likely that Adrian Peterson's image is not something the Kraft's would bring to the Patriots.

Other than the child abuse case, Adrian Peterson also brings other issues for the New England Patriots. Peterson is a one-trick pony despite being a former MVP. Signing him as a replacement for LeGarrete Blount may seem like a downgrade as Peterson does not catch the ball well from the backfield.

Peterson also has a history of fumbles to which Belichick absolutely hates. Peterson has 34 fumbles in 123 games in his career which does not bode well for a championship team like the New England Patriots.

Moreover, Peterson is coming off an injury the previous year and is coming off his worst season in his career. The New England Patriots may be taking a huge risk in signing Adrian Peterson even with a salary cut. They're much better off by re-signing Blount or draft a new player from the 2017 class.
