This time, Tim Tebow had nothing to do with a photo of him getting some people's blood pressure elevated.
According to the Jersey Journal, a letter addressed to Jersey City (New Jersey) Mayor Steven Fulop contained a white powder and a picture of Tebow, causing the evacuation of the town's City Hall on Monday.
The powder turned out to be harmless, the report said, but the letter was meant to resemble a chemical or biological threat.
A mayor's aide opened an envelope addressed to "Mayor Steven Fulop, family and friends on Monday afternoon, Jersey City Public Safety Director James Shea told the Journal, and the white powder spilled out.
Shea confirmed the presence of a note in the envelope but declined to talk about what the note said, citing the matter as still under investigation, but a source told the Journal that the letter contained, "Spiritual stuff. Heaven stuff. A picture of Tebow."
According to the report, the aide called the police, which also brought the fire department, the city bomb squad, a hazmat unit and ambulances to the scene. Two tests showed that the powder was harmless, and workers returned to the building at 3:15 p.m.
Fulop was not in the building at the time, and the matter still is under investigation.
Tebow, a free-agent quarterback still looking for a job in the NFL, last caused a similar fuss in 2012 when he posed as a "Sexy Jesus" for GQ Magazine's NFL kickoff issue in 2012 when he was still a member of the New York Jets. He was cut from the New England Patriots last summer.
While no threat of danger was imminent, Tebow's participation created a backlash against him.
"Tim Tebow is posing as Jesus, but not any kind of Jesus. He is posing as 'Sexy Jesus,' Sport Radio 66 WFAN host Craig Carton said. "Now, I'm not a very religious guy, but I do know the tenets of religion and I know what Jesus stood for and I know that many people that believe in that stuff, right, and live their life by that code take that very seriously... But I can tell you that hardcore, conservative, religious people that believe in Jesus and fear God... When you see a guy, who clearly thinks he is Jesus -- he is posing as Jesus, legs crossed, arms out, like he's on the freaking cross, and he's got tight junk pants on showing off his big junk with no shirt on -- and he's posing as Sexy Jesus, he is a fraud."
