Sony, the Japanese tech giant made it big this time at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona. The company unveiled four new devices at the event and Xperia XZ Premium was awarded as the "Best New Smartphone or Connected Mobile Device at MWC 2017."

GSMA hosts the very famous Mobile World Congress, Mobile World Congress Shanghai, Mobile World Congress Americas and the Mobile 360 Series of conferences. As a part of MWC event, the organization also holds the annual Global Mobile Awards or Glomo awards in order to award the tech companies with different category awards.

According to GSMA report, the organization congratulated all winners of the 2017 Glomo Awards for the best tech companies in various categories. "Our congratulations to all of the winners and nominees of the GSMA's Glomo Awards at Mobile World Congress this week," said Michael O'Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA.

The Japanese smartphone manufacturer unveiled four new devices at MWC 2017, which includes the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZs, Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra. There were other tech giants like LG, Gionee, Huawei, Xiaomi and many more who launched their devices at MWC 2017. But, the award for "Best New Smartphone or Connected Mobile Device at MWC 2017" was bagged by Sony Xperia XZ Premium.

According to GSMArena, Xperia XZ Premium holds a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x1920 pixels resolution with 424ppi protected by a corning gorilla glass. The device measures to 146mm x 72mm x 8.1mm and weighs 161g and has a luminous chromium body which looked more dazzling on the showroom floor. Under the hood, the handset is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 quad core processor with Adreno 530 GPU.

The processor is paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB internal storage options with an option of microSD card up to 256GB. The flagship runs on Android 7.1 Nougat straight and is equipped with 2,900mAh non removable battery with quick charge support.

The IP68 certified Sony Xperia XZ Premium sports an entirely new camera system called the 'Motion Eye' equipped with the world's first memory stacked sensor. Sony has embedded fast memory right into the camera stack which allows the Smartphone to capture video at an astonishing 960 frames per second, which is 4 times slower than any other Smartphone available today.

The rear end of the phone is equipped with a 19MP rear camera having an aperture of f/2.0 and comes with SteadyShot and an 'Anti-distortion' shutter and the front face of the phone is equipped with 13MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0 for selfies. The device is also incorporated with fingerprint (side-mounted, region dependent), proximity, barometer, compass, color spectrum, accelerometer and gyro sensors.
