It seems that Italy's race car manufacturers are stepping up. As of late, a new record at the Nurburgring lap has been set.

If the race track is at the Ring, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante is lording it over the rest of the speedsters. In the middle of this record-breaking event is Marco Mapelli.

On board the Lamborghini Aventador Super Veloce last year, the factory driver has incurred a second less than seven minutes after taking the company's biggest supercar for a spin at the renowned motor sports complex in Germany.

At six minutes and 59 seconds, Mapelli has been able to dominate the Mercedes SLS Black Series by twenty six seconds and both Ferrari Enzo as well as the standard Aventador by twenty five ticks. The factory driver has also been able to overshadow the Nismo GT-R and the Porsche 918 Spyder by eight and two seconds, respectively.

With him at the helm of the new Lamborghini Huracan Performante this time, Mapelli has clocked in at 6 minutes and 52 seconds after circling the 150,000-capacity German Ring. The time will now stand as the new record.

A huge part of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante's dominance is its carbon fiber material. The integration of the element into the car has resulted in the reduction of the vehicle's weight by around 40 kilograms.

In addition, the standard Huracan has its V10 engine modified to further trim down the lagging mass. The machine's performance has also been improved in order to bolster its power.

Lamborghini has also installed new exhaust approach which releases smoke significantly higher at the back part of the unit. The procedure has been able to limit the rear pressure while at the same time bolstering the sound. More than that, an enhanced 7-speed dual clutch transmission has been integrated to provider quicker shifts.

Beating the Nurburgring lap has taken into consideration the external prowess of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. The installation of the combative front splitter and the gigantic rear wing is a big part of the assembly process since these components manage air flow efficiently.
