The past twenty four hours has been a bad news and good news kind of day for the number team in the NBA the Golden State Warriors. First is the bad news, All Star small forward Kevin Durant is went out with a knee injury during the Golden State Warriors 112-108 loss to the Washington Wizards last night. The good news, if one could call it good given the circumstances, is that Kevin Durant's knee injury is not that worse than most people thought it would be and he might be back in in time for the playoffs.

After a scary knee injury, the Golden State Warriors announced on Wednesday that Kevin Durant was diagnosed with a sprained MCL and a bone bruise on his left knee and will be out at least four weeks, according to a report from ESPN. MRI tests performed on Kevin Durant's injured left knee after the game reveled the extent of the injury.

Kevin Durant was injured barely a minute into the game between the Golden State Warriors game and the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night. Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat fouled Golden State Warriors center Zaza Pachulia during a loose ball scramble.

Zaza Pachulia fell backwards and as he fell down on the floor, he hit Kevin Durant's left knee, causing the knee to hyperextend. Kevin Durant immediately hopped away while holding on his left knee.

After playing for two more possessions, Kevin Durant signaled to Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr to call timeout with a little over ten minutes remaining in the first quarter. Kevin Durant then proceeded to the locker room after talking with the trainers and did not return.

The injury to Kevin Durant is a major blow to the Golden State Warriors. Even if the Golden State Warriors announced that Kevin Durant is out indefinitely, he will be re-evaluated after four weeks and could still play in the regular season. The Golden State Warriors final game of the regular is scheduled six weeks from now.

As a result of Kevin Durant's knee injury, the Golden State Warriors moved swiftly immediately agreed to sign a replacement for Kevin Durant in Matt Barnes, via a report from ESPN. Matt Barnes was just recently waived by the Sacramento Kings and has cleared waivers.
