The NBA trade deadline is just a few hours away and just by looking at the recent trades that happened this past month, there's nothing really to get excited about except maybe for one trade during the All-Star weekend. Most NBA teams are so far just playing it safe and just making calls just to inquire about certain players.
This season's NBA trade deadline has now officially become an inquiring stage for NBA teams, according to a report from the New York Post. Most NBA teams would rather just stay put then make any unnecessary deals.
"It's an 'inquiring' deadline so far," said one NBA team executive. "But there's always a chain reaction. For the most part, it's been quiet. Teams would rather not make a deal than make a bad deal."
Despite this season's NBA trade deadline being an inquiring deadline or stage, there are a few major trades worth mentioning. There's the trade that sent Orlando Magic power forward Serge Ibaka to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for guard Terrence Ross and the Toronto Raptors 2017 first-round pick.
Another one worth mentioning is the Los Angeles Lakers trading shooting guard and leading scorer Lou Williams to the Houston Rockets for Corey Brewer and an unprotected first-round pick in this year's draft. The latest major trade is the Dallas Mavericks sending center Andrew Bogut to the Philadelphia 76ers for center Nerlens Noel. But the biggest trade so far before the NBA trade deadline is the DeMarcus Cousins trade.
The Sacramento Kings just recently traded All Star center DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans for guard Buddy Hield, guard/forward Tyreke Evans, guard Langston Galloway and 2017 first- and second-round picks, via report from ESPN. The DeMarcus Cousins trade is just about the most exciting one that happened before the NBA trade deadline.
