Is UFC superstar Georges St-Pierre leaving the sport for good, after winning a close fight against Johny Hendricks and retaining the welterweight title?

St. Pierre's words were clear after the fight, as quoted by Yahoo! Sports: "I need to hang up the gloves for a little bit."

When UFC TV analyst Joe Rogan asked him to clarify his statement and confirm that it was indeed about retirement, St. Pierre said he needed to step aside for a little bit. He was quoted as saying by Yahoo! Sports: "Listen everyone, there was a lot of talk about what was going to happen," St-Pierre said. "I have a bunch of stuff in my life, I need to turn in my gloves for a little bit. I'm at a point in my life, and all my fans, I appreciate [you]. Thank you to everyone, to the UFC, Johny Hendricks."

St. Pierre's victory was clouded with controversy as many observers believe that the outcome should have come the other way. St. Pierre won on the scorecards of two judges, 48-47 while Hendricks got the vote of the other judge.

The legendary Canadian fighter has now won 12 matches in a row and holds the UFC record of 19 wins. But St. Pierre himself was honest about the grueling fight, saying that it was his toughest match yet. "Without a doubt, this was my toughest fight. I couldn't see with one of my eyes. He really messed me up. I need a vacation right now."

Hendricks was unscathed and hurt his opponent in the second round with power punches. For most of the fight, the UFC welterweight champion was backtracking.

"I want that belt," Hendricks said. "What I just earned, it was taken away form me, and I swear to God it won't happen again."
