The Cleveland Cavaliers were expected to become one of the rising powers in the Eastern Conference, led by a young All-Star point guard in Kyrie Irving, the acquisition of center Andrew Bynum and the drafting of number one pick Anthony Bennett. They also signed former coach Mike Brown in the offseason.
But the Cavs are off to a horrendous 3-7 start, and Irving is struggling in the field with a miserable 38 percent shooting from the floor and 32 percent from the three-point range. Bennett is proving to be a bust while Bynum is a shell of his former self. Brown and Irving, meanwhile are said to be having some issues with each other.
ESPN.com is reporting that the Cavaliers are having chemistry problems with their poor start, and the Cavs even held a players-only meeting after a disastrous 29-point loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The meeting was heated, according to ESPN sources, that players confronted each other.
After starting the season at 2-2, the Cavs have lost five of their last six games. Last Friday, they lost a 12-point lead in the second half and eventually dropped an 86-80 decision to the Charlotte Bobcats.
Irving and Brown have also been involved in some issues, and this was apparent when they got into an exchange during the Cavs loss to the Chicago Bulls on November 11. Brown has been getting some heat as well as he has been changing the line ups recently and shifting the roles of his key players.
