It is not often that a joint car manufacturing venture can get exciting. What makes the undertaking even more intriguing is the mechanical integration of Asian and European products. Japanese automaker Toyota has launched its first sports vehicle back in 1978. However, production has been promptly halted in 2002.

Nowadays, the Aichi-based organization is looking to revive its competitive assembly line. This will be spearheaded with the arrival of the 2018 Toyota Supra. The entry of the Bavarian-Japanese sports car undertaking has been introduced in Munich under the tutelage of BMW. However, cars hatched will be handled independently on both ends.

The Japanese company's collaboration with the Bavarian auto organization has yielded the 2018 Toyota Supra unit. With the BMW Z5 or Z4 in the horizon, the Toyota product will be manufactured only as a fixed-roof coupe so as to avoid conflicting specifications. On the other hand, the European vehicle will come out as a roadster that is separate from the Supra.

What is perhaps intriguing is the fact that the 2018 Toyota Supra will have a BMW engine underneath. The report has been unraveled through a catalog leak. Within this context, it is astounding to know that three engines will be integrated into the Supra. The primary machine belongs to the B48 generation which utilizes a 2-liter turbo four-cylinder model. This engine is able to unload around 191 to 252 horsepower.

Meanwhile, the grand brand of the 2018 Toyota Supra will be propelled by the B58 straight-six cylinder machine. This motor is able to deliver 340hp with 450 newton-meters of torque. On the other hand, the BMW M variation, which is a Z4-derived engine, is also in the running to be used for the Japanese automobile.

Considering the slight differences between the BMW roadster and the 2018 Toyota Supra coupe, setting both brands into production has never been an issue. The Supra, which has a broader roof structure, is only 14 centimeters in length compared to the Z4 or Z5.
