The Geneva International Motor Show is a prestigious car show where car manufacturers from all over the world showcase their latest models and concept cars. Mitsubishi Motors is one them and that's why it's no surprise that the Japanese car manufacturer is using the Geneva International Motor Show to debut their Eclipse Cross.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross derived its name from Mitsubishi's popular sports car, the Eclipse. The Cross because the Eclipse Cross is a cross between the Mitsubishi Outlander SUV and the Mitsubishi Eclipse sports car.

Mitsubishi Motors is hoping that the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is the answer to the car manufacturers dwindling sales. Mitsubishi Motors forecasted last year their first annual net loss in eight years, via a report from the Financial Times.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is Mitsubishi Motors' latest attempt to penetrate the crossover market. With the overwhelming demand for SUVs and crossovers, Mitsubishi Motors has shifted its focus on producing more SUVs in their lineup. Mitsubishi Motors has already discontinued the popular Eclipse model in 2012 and the Lancer would also be discontinued before 2018.

Little details are released about the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross' features. But based on images released by Mitsubishi Motors, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross would feature a sporty, chiseled front, sloping roofline at the rear, and steep rear windows.
