The legendary automaker is bringing in something big and something stirring from the future. During this year's car show in Detroit, spectators have been treated to a well-defined sports utility vehicle (SUV).

Volkswagen is showcasing the distinctive build of the Tiguan. The enhanced version of the brand has been manufactured based on the Modular Transverse Matrix platform.

This type of foundation presents a 109.9-inch wheelbase with an overall 185.2-inch measurement. This means that the German auto company has added 4.4 and 10.7 inches, respectively, to the previous version of the SUV.

Due to its increased length, the new 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan is able to expand its cargo capacity by around 57 percent. In addition, a stretched base provides a second and even a third-row sitting structure.

The modular approach of the car is vital since it allows enough leeway or legroom to maneuver. The lifting of baggage and related items can be made easier due to a 26-degree angle.

The Tiguan also offers exterior features that are quite unique. For instance, its lighting is equipped with a LED component. Add-on elements include a foot-activated power liftgate and a panoramic moonroof.

The interior of the Volkswagen SUV also presents a conspicuous outlook. The seats are covered with rhombus-patterned cloths.

According to designer Ina Janisch, the car has been made to accommodate more passengers.

This German-made unit also offers a cockpit with a digital display which can be reconfigured. Available tech elements to be integrated into the car include the Fender Premium Audio System and the Volkswagen's Car-Net Suite which covers notable services like the Android Auto and the Apple CarPlay.

Judging from its extended wheelbase, the driver's seat can be moved in an eight-way approach. Owners have the option to incorporate a heated steering wheel and warmed front seats.

Safety tools are also instituted into the Volkswagen Tiguan. Aside from the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System and rear view camera, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Front Assist and Lane Assist components can be added to the vehicle's system.

This German masterpiece has an all-wheel drive feature. Its 2-liter engine can unleash about 184 horsepower to go with a 221 pound-foot of torque.
