The Toronto Raptors were the clear second-best team in the Eastern Conference just behind the defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers. However, the Raptors struggled at the start of the year and they are in danger of falling out of the top four in the East.

With the NBA trade deadline fast approaching, the Raptors front office led by Masai Uriji knows that they need to make a move to prevent a collapse. Here are the five players who can help the Raptors halt their recent struggles.

Paul Millsap, Atlanta Hawks

The Raptors were previously linked with Millsap when he was placed on the trading block by the Hawks. He is a perfect fit for the Raptors offense alongside DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. However, the Hawks are not quite sure if they will trade the three-time All-Star.

Millsap is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, which makes him a risky acquisition for Toronto. Another downside for Millsap is his age as he already turned 32 years old last week. It's only a couple of seasons before Father Time catches up with him.

Taj Gibson, Chicago Bulls

Gibson has been part of many rumors for the past couple of seasons. He's not an All-Star but he is one of the most solid role players around the league. He can score and shoot while also providing solid defense. He is already 31 years old but he can help the Raptors maintain their position in the East.

One possible the deal the Raptors can do is offer Jared Sullinger, Fred VanVleet and a first-round pick to the Bulls in exchange for Gibson, per FOX Sports. The Bulls are reportedly looking for a first-round pick which makes this trade attractive for both sides.

Danilo Gallinari, Denver Nuggets

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Raptors are one of two teams interested in Gallinari. The Nuggets are looking to unload the Italian star to make room for players like Gary Harris and Juan Hernangomez in the lineup.

Toronto could use Gallinari as a stretch four to open up the defense for DeRozan and Lowry to penetrate. He'll surely be helpful for the Raptors but his injury history makes it hard for Ujiri to give a lucrative over. Also, there is history between the Raptors GM and the Nuggets which could make a deal for Gallinari much easier.

Serge Ibaka, Orlando Magic

The Magic are expected to move on from Ibaka, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, as reported by ESPN. The Raptors do not have to trade a lot of assets to acquire Ibaka since his value is at an all-time low. He's a low-risk, high reward acquisition for Toronto.

Ibaka gives the Raptors a stretch four who can defend the rim. He's not as talented on offense as Millsap but he improves the Raptors' defense. There won't be a lot of pressure on him to perform at a high level in Toronto since he's only the third or fourth option on offense

Carmelo Anthony, New York Knicks

Why not, right? Anthony is still a top 30 player in the NBA and he could help the Raptors overcome the Boston Celtics, Washington Wizards or even the Cavaliers in the playoffs. He relieves a lot of pressure off of DeRozan and Lowry, which makes their lives much easier.

The Raptors would probably have to give up a couple of first-round picks, several role players like Terrence Ross and DeMare Carroll to land Anthony. However, the 32-year-old superstar has to waive his no-trade clause before a trade happens. Phil Jackson would be thrilled if Anthony does that.
