There is mounting concern in the Cleveland Cavaliers camp about Kevin Love’s injured left knee. The team is reportedly looking to get a second opinion on their stretch forward’s knee, fueling talks that Love could be out for an extended period of time.

The All-Star forward got an MRI Sunday following complaints of pain during and after the Cleveland Cavaliers win over the Denver Nuggets. As noted by Cleveland.com, the team has yet to reveal the results of the MRI, and as of Tuesday, has not disclosed where Kevin Love would get a second opinion. These suggest that what doctors initially saw in Love’s left knee was not the best case scenario.

“I would love to be able to tell you that he’ll miss three games and be back, but I can’t right now because we don’t know,” Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin said. Kevin Love has been ruled out of Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Iman Shumpert, who is recovering from a sprained left ankle, and J.R. Smith, who is scheduled to have his surgically repaired right thumb re-examined during the All-Star break, is also expected to be out against the Wolves.

Should Kevin Love miss the team’s remaining games before the All-Star break, the trio of Channing Frye, Richard Jefferson and newly-acquired Derrick Williams will share the minutes brought by Love’s absence. CBS Sports previously reported that following the MRI, the 28-year-old has been cleared of any structural damage. The Cleveland Cavaliers’ yearning for a second opinion, though, tells a different story.

Kevin Love is in the middle of his best season as a Cleveland Cavalier. He is posting 20 points and 11 rebounds in 46 games this season. After the game in Minnesota, the Cavs only have a home game against the Indiana Pacers before the All-Star break.
