Despite the fact that the WWE's Survivor Series pay-per-view is just 12 days away, coming live from the TD Garden in Boston on Nov. 24, only two matches have been announced for the event. While the two matches are for the two top titles, reports indicate that neither match is a lock to close the show as it appears the WWE could be preparing for a huge elimination tag team match for the main event.
With the way RAW ended on Monday night with the Wyatt family coming out and helping The Shield beat down CM Punk and Daniel Bryan in a six-on-two attack until The Usos, Cody Rhodes and Goldust made the save, speculation is that the WWE is preparing to book a match between the sides that would be a six-on-six traditional Survivor Series elimination tag team match. Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that the tag match may be the main event on the show while the title matches may appear in the middle of the card.
It was rumored that the WWE was planning a four-on-four match with Punk and Bryan tagging with two different superstars to take on the Wyatt family and one other superstar, but last week backstage speculation indicated that Punk and Bryan were going to take on Luke Harper and Erick Rowan in a standard tag match and that there would be no traditional matches this year. Now, however, that RAW closed with the six-on-six standoff, it appears WWE is back to the idea of having a big tag match close the show to give the event a "big feel" like it has had in the past.
While the tag match isn't confirmed, two other high-profile matches are as Randy Orton will defend his WWE Championship against The Big Show and John Cena will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Alberto Del Rio in a rematch from October's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. There have been reports that The Big Show is suffering from an injury, but it seems as though he'll be good to go for the main event.
In other rumored matches, reports continue to indicate that Dean Ambrose will defend his United States championship against Big E Langston on the pay-per-view as well. There have been no updates on the Divas title situation, as it was reported that the WWE may throw the divas in a traditional match, but nothing has been updated on that front in storylines yet.
WWE Survivor Series takes place Nov. 24, and it seems as though there may be one of the biggest traditional elimination matches of all-time closing out the show.
