Australian Open 2017 Finals: Williams Sisters Set For Their Family Momentum

After eight years, Serena and Venus Williams will fight for a grand slam title. This is the ninth time the American sisters will meet in the finals. They will play in Australian Open 2017 Final this Saturday.

Serena and Venus have a combined age of 71 and they have won total 29 slam titles and this will be the 30th title of their family. As written in SBS, Serena Williams, 35, brought an end to the dream run of Mirjana Lucic-Baroni at Melbourne Park. She thrashed the 34-year-old Croatian 6-2 6-1.

"It felt really good because I felt like it was in my hands to force this Williams final," Serena told reporters of her semi-final rout as written in Routers. It was an easy win for younger sister Serena. However, Venus Williams, 36, had a much tougher time but she managed to get a 6-7(3) 6-2 6-3 victory over compatriot Coco Vandeweghe.

She had to use her experience of 73 grand slam campaigns to achieve this win. After winning the tough battle, Venus said, "Everyone has their moment in the sun. Maybe mine has gone for a while but I'd like to keep that going. I got nothing else to do."

In their last Australian Open final contest in 2003, Serena beat her older sister Venus without any emotion and she is expected to play the same role in this finale as well. This Thursday was all about family pride when both the sisters fixed the title on their side.

Serena, the 35-year-old Californian said, "For us, both to be in the final is the biggest dream come true. She's my toughest opponent, no one has ever beaten me as much as Venus has. I just feel like no matter what's happened we've both won."

This will be the 29th slam final for Serena and she had won 22 of them. On the other side, Venus Williams has 7 grand slam title in her name.
