Speculation is growing Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may seek a trade this offseason as his frustration mounts with the only NFL team he's ever played for.
According to SBNation.com. Roethlisberger and offensive coordinator Todd Haley continue to bump heads over an offense the Pro Bowl quarterback deems not suited to his greatest strengths.
The Steelers reportedly entertained the thought of putting Roethlisberger on the open market following the 2012 season, but soon had a change of heart. The Steelers went 7-9 in 2012, losing five of their last seven games and missing out on the postseason. The team has struggled to a 2-6 record over the first half of this season.
Despite the team's clear and apparent struggles, Roethlisberger has managed to consistently post comparable numbers. He has 2,330 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions in eight games this season, while enjoying his best completion percentage since 2009. The Steelers' offense continues to struggle, however, with the running game ranked No. 28 in the NFL.
In nine NFL seasons, Roethlisberger has passed for nearly 30,000 yards and 191 touchdowns against just 108 interceptions. Roethlisberger best season came in 2007, when he completed better than 65 percent of his passes and threw for 3,154 yards and 32 touchdowns.
