DeMarcus cousins' name has been floating in the NBA Trade Rumors from the past few days this season. Latest reports suggest that the Sacramento Kings will be offering DeMarcus Cousins a $200m extension this coming offseason.

This is a bad news for NBA in a way that the fans were hoping their favourite team might the services of Cousins. The Kings as suggested were more interested in making the playoffs this season, rather than rebooting by trading their franchise player.

At 15-21, they are ninth in the Western Conference, but only certain percentage points separate them from 16-22 Portland Trail Brazers, who are in eighth position.

As reported in the RealGM, Sacramento Kings will offer Cousins a contract extension this offseason which will pay him in excess of $200M. The Kings were previously quite reluctant to move for Cousins, who is scheduled to be a free agent from 2018.

The NBA's new collective bargaining agreement down-played any trade rumors around the player, as is the ability of the Kings to pay him significantly more than any other team in the NBA. Cousins signed a four-year, $62 million max extension in 2013.

DeMarcus is in his 7th season with the Sacramento Kings, he hasn't yet taken them to the NBA playoffs. Though playoffs still seem to elude him time and time again, he has been the best basketball player this season in the competition.

Cousins stats are remarkable this season with an average of 28.5 points, 10 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. These performances have enabled the Kings to compete well in the Western Conference.

In an interview with the NBA TV, DeMarcus says that trade rumors never bother him and he wants to stay in Sacramento for as long as he can. He further says that his jersey will be hanging in the rafters when he retires in Sacramento colours.
