It seems there were some people in WWE hoping that the brand split would lead to an actual split of real-life couple Paige and Alberto Del Rio.

During the WWE Draft on July 19, Del Rio ended up on the "SmackDown Live" brand, while Paige became an entity of "RAW."

Apparently, this was done by design. According to Mister Saint Laurent, who appears alongside former WCW wrestler and booker Kevin Sullivan on a podcast, WWE official Mark Carrano threatened Paige's job over not breaking up with Del Rio.

"Mark Carrano, who fans might know from 'Total Divas,' kind of like the office liaison guy, approached Del Rio and Paige individually and harassed each of them about their relationship," he said on the "MSL & Sullivan" show on MLW Radio, according to Wrestlingheadlines.com. "It was indicated that the office wanted them to sever their romantic relationship."

Paige and Del Rio were both suspended 30 days last month for violating the company's wellness policy. Del Rio subsequently parted ways with the WWE.

Paige is currently out with shoulder and neck injuries, but if the rumored story is true, she can't be very happy with the company.

"A lot of people speculated if this was the reason [WWE] split them up in the draft and that's definitely what happened," MSL said. "The company did not want them together. They split them up in the draft by design and they threatened to fire Paige if she didn't break up with Del Rio."

With her boyfriend already gone, it will be interesting to see what's next for the two-time Divas Champion.
