Larry David's latest idea is prettay, prettay, prettay good.
The "Seinfeld" co-creator and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star wants to be the Jets offensive coordinator. That job is currently held by Chan Gailey, who enters his second year running Gang Green's offense under head coach Todd Bowles, but David apparently covets the gig as well.
"I'm not joking. I'm positive that I could be an offensive coordinator," David told 'The Dan Patrick Show.' "I think if I just studied, if I just hung around and just learned a little bit ... give me one season shadowing an offensive coordinator, one season, and I know I could do it. I know it. What could be so hard about it? You make up plays! Why is that so hard, okay? I'm creative in certain respects and I think I could do that. I think I can!"
It was revealed earlier this year that David's HBO comedy "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is set to return for Season 9, likely in 2017. Filming and production for the upcoming season is slated for this fall, according to Splitsider.
The show has been on a five-year hiatus as the last time new episodes aired was back in 2011 with Season 8.
The Jets offense was a pretty well-oiled machine in 2015 as Ryan Fitzpatrick set a franchise record by throwing for 31 touchdowns, boosted by top receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker -- so David may not be needed at this time.
New York finished 10-6 last season, but missed the playoffs for the fifth straight campaign. Perhaps if David was calling the plays, Fitzpatrick could have avoided his nightmarish three-interception performance in the second half against the Bills in the final game of the regular season.
Had Gang Green won that contest against Buffalo and former head coach Rex Ryan, it would have stamped its ticket to the postseason.
David also had some pointed comments about Fitzpatrick and his bushy beard.
"I don't know why Fitzpatrick can't shave, honestly," David said, via the New York Daily News. "Why does he need that beard? That beard really bothers me. I don't know what this quarterback looks like. Who am I rooting for? Imagine Mickey Mantle with a full beard like that. It would have changed my entire childhood."
The Jets have already had an interesting training camp as cornerback Darrelle Revis got into a tussle with receiver Brandon Marshall during drills last week.
Despite the tensions flaring, the Jets have put a positive spin on the incident.
"It's just football, man. It's nothing more," Revis said on Saturday, via ESPN.com."You might hit somebody in the head, you might get poked in the eye, you might get your foot stepped on. It's all football. It's all involved. It's a very physical sport."
