Team USA begins its first quest for another Olympic basketball gold medal when it takes on China on Saturday in Group A, Round 1 action.

The United States has won the gold medal in five of the last six Summer Games, which includes a streak of two straight in the 2008 London Games and the 2012 Bejing Games. The lone exception in that run of success is the 2004 Athens games, when Team USA settled for the bronze medal and Argentina took home gold.

The run of success started at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and continued in 1996 (Atlanta) and 2000 (Sydney).

Carmelo Anthony will be a part of the American group that looks to go on another run. The Knicks superstar was also part of the 2004 team, which fell from grace in a loss to Greece en route to settling for bronze.

"It wasn't a good experience," Anthony said, according to USA Today Sports. "It wasn't a good feeling. But I think it helped me. I think it helped our country to enjoy what we're feeling now. ... To have that winning feeling, and to know what it feels like to win a gold medal and have that opposite side of that, I don't want to feel what it's like not winning a gold medal."

Team USA vs. Japan is one of three games slated for Saturday as Australia and France do battle at 1:15 p.m. ET and Venezuela takes on Serbia at 9:30 p.m. ET. To view the schedule for the men's and women's as well as where to live stream every other game of the tournament, click here.
