The separation of Paige and Alberto Del Rio on WWE television may not be a coincidence.

The two-time Divas Champion was drafted to "Monday Night RAW" during the WWE Draft on July 19. The "Essence of Excellence," meanwhile, was selected to be a "SmackDown Live" entity.

Paige and Del Rio were split up onto separate brands despite having a real-life relationship, and there may be more than meets the eye when it comes to the move.

There are many people within WWE who believe that Paige and Del Rio were drafted to separate brands because of backstage heat from senior officials, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Wrestlingheadlines.com).

It's unknown what the heat stems from, but the Observer notes that several people backstage were worried about Paige's status a few weeks ago.

The Norwich, England native was involved in a very strange incident in which she was handcuffed following an odd altercation in Las Vegas during the Money in the Bank pay-per-view back in June, and it's unknown at this time if any heat stems from the bizarre incident.

Paige is currently dealing with an injury, which caused the WWE to recently pull her from an upcoming tour through Australia and New Zealand. According to the Observer, it is believed that Paige is dealing with back and shoulder injuries, but they aren't deemed to be too serious.

The WWE Superstar is expected to miss at least two more weeks, possibly longer.

Reports of Del Rio and Paige being a couple first surfaced when pictures of them kissing and getting romantic at a Disney theme park appeared online back in May.

At first, there were theories of it being a "Total Divas" angle, but it quickly became obvious that the two really were together. It was confirmed when Del Rio attended a non-WWE wrestling event back in May and Paige was by his side.

"RAW" general manger Mick Foley also had a comment about the relationship, which further confirmed they were an item.

Del Rio, 39, was previously married to a woman by the name of Angela Rodriguez, but it seems they've split up. Paige, 23, had her last well-known relationship with A Day To Remember rocker Kevin Skaff come to an end in the public eye on the "Total Divas" reality show.

It's unknown if WWE officials are unhappy with their relationship or wanted to separate them for other reasons, but it seems there was a method to the madness of Paige and Del Rio ending up on separate brands.
