When it comes to an NFL return for Tim Tebow, "never say never."

Of course, such a comeback isn't entirely up to the former Heisman Trophy winner as one of the 32 NFL teams would have to give him a chance.

Tebow hasn't appeared in an NFL game since his stint with the Jets back in 2012, and while he admitted he has no plans to seek a comeback, he remains open to the possibility.

"I don't know. I think if the right opportunity presents itself, I'll never say never," Tebow told Rolling Stone about the prospects of an NFL return. "But I'm so blessed doing what I'm doing with foundations and my new book and everything with the SEC and ESPN this year. I'm just grateful where I'm at and I'm excited about it."

When asked if he had any plans to work toward a return to the gridiron on fall Sundays, Tebow was candid.

"No plans that I have right now," he told the publication.

Tebow had a highly-decorated college football career, which included the Heisman Trophy win in 2007, leading the Gators to a BCS championship, two SEC championships and a Sugar Bowl win.

The Broncos selected Tebow 25th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft and he had a tremendous overtime playoff win over the Steelers in 2011 before being dealt to the Jets. Tebow played one season in New York and was then picked up by the Patriots, who cut him prior to the season.

His latest attempt to get back to NFL action was with the Eagles last year, but Philadelphia cut him in September and he has remained out of the league ever since, though he does a lot of public speaking, appeared on the Fox show "Home Free" and works for "SEC Nation" during college football season.

The question of an NFL return always surrounds Tebow and he was asked about it again last week.

"I gotta look at it, I gotta figure out the situation," Tebow told 'The Doug Gottlieb Show' on CBS Sports Radio (via the L.A. Times). "Not necessarily be opposed to it but you never know."

Tebow, 28, owns a 47.9 career completion percentage and has thrown for 2,422 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 35 games -- 16 of which were starts.
