With the WWE Survivor Series just over two weeks away, the card has begun to take form but has yet to be finalized as only two matches have been officially announced for the pay-per-view event. Recent backstage talks have led to speculation that there may not be any traditional Survivor Series elimination tag matches as the WWE prepares its final build towards the pay-per-view.

It was rumored that CM Punk and Daniel Bryan's current issues with the Wyatt family consisting of Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, was going to possibly include other superstars to turn it into a four-on-four traditional elimination match, but now reports indicate that those plans have been scrapped.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, while initial plans called for the elimination match, the WWE is leaning more towards a standard tag match that will pit Punk and Bryan against Luke Harper and Erick Rowan with Bray Wyatt in their corner.

There were also rumors that The Shield's Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns were going to team up with Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro to take on the team of Cody Rhodes & Goldust and The Usos in a traditional match, or that all four teams would be pitted against each other in a four-way match for the Tag Team titles.

Wrestlingheadlines.com is now reporting that it looks as though it will be Swagger and Cesaro taking on Rhodes and Goldust in a standard tag match for the tag titles instead of any kind of elimination match. The report indicates that the four-way match may still happen, but that it's doubtful there will be an elimination match.

The WWE has two matches officially announced for the show, with Randy Orton defending the WWE Championship against the recently reinstated Big Show and Alberto Del Rio challenging World Heavyweight Champion John Cena for the gold in a rematch of their encounter at Hell in a Cell. Cena was rumored to possibly be involved in an elimination match, but those quickly subsided when it was announced on SmackDown that he'd be facing Del Rio.

With four of its major superstars locked up in title matches and the plans for the Wyatt family, Bryan, Punk and the four tag teams almost set, it would seem as though the WWE may be going in a different direction this year by not having any traditional Survivor Series matches this year, though it's possible that the plans could change.

In addition to these matches, a Dean Ambrose vs. Big E Langston match for the United States title is in the works. It remains possible that the WWE will put together a Divas traditional elimination tag match as they haven't finalized any plans with the divas yet, according to reports, but it could be unlikely.

WWE Survivor Series takes place Sunday, Nov. 24 from the TD Garden in Boston. While the card hasn't been finalized and backstage plans could change, it seems as though this may be the first Survivor Series since 2002 to not feature a traditional Survivor Series elimination tag match.
