Roman Reigns is set to return, but the Roman Empire appears to be in shambles.

The three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion was publicly embarrassed when he failed a WWE wellness test. His 30-day suspension comes to an end on Thursday and he'll return to the ring this weekend.

Reigns is set to battle WWE Champion Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat Match at Battleground this Sunday at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. If the boo birds were boisterous before, they'll be insufferable against him now that he's sustained a wellness violation despite being shoved down the fans' throats.

Here are three ways the WWE can try and restore credibility to Reigns.

1) Start Over

The mega push never worked and despite the WWE Universe's rejection of the "Big Dog," the company opted to skyrocket him to the main event. Reigns wasn't quite ready from an in-ring standpoint and also was very green on the microphone, but the WWE was hell bent on turning him into John Cena II.

The company now has the opportunity to do what it should have done in the first place by having the "RAW" Superstar slowly work his way up through the midcard and possibly have a run as United States Champion before potentially emerging back in the main event scene. While this runs the risk of Reigns becoming the next Sheamus, Miz or Dolph Ziggler, it's much better than having him force-fed to the fans once again.

2) Turn Him Heel

The WWE may just have to bite the bullet on this one. Reigns will always be booed as a babyface, there's only one thing the WWE can do about it. The former Shield member is very stale, and while it's understandable that the WWE won't turn Cena, there's no reason not to give Reigns more of an edge to his character.

Not many members of the WWE Universe want to see the "Leader of the Roman Empire" as a babyface WWE Champion, but he could gain some positive momentum if he were to turn heel.

3) Have Him Join A Stable

Reigns was never more popular than when he was the machine behind The Shield. Reigns' partnership with Ambrose and Rollins was his peak as a WWE Superstar, but it all went downhill when the group split up and the WWE tried to forcefully push the former World Champion.

While a Shield reunion is out of the cards given Rollins being on "RAW" and Ambrose on "SmackDown" -- also because of the success of both of their singles pushes -- perhaps the WWE can find a new stable to put Reigns in. With AJ Styles on "SmackDown" and The Club headed toward "RAW," perhaps Reigns could align himself with them -- though Finn Balor might make a more logical choice.
