Johnny Manziel has vowed to ditch his party boy persona to once again become Johnny Football.

This is a routine we've heard before from the controversial quarterback, which makes it hard to give him the benefit of the doubt that he'll clean up his act. Adding to the disbelief is the fact that he's currently in Mexico, where it's almost 100 percent guaranteed his nonstop partying will continue.

Manziel has been in Cabo and an unidentified girl sent out a Snapchat of her at Manziel's mansion in Mexico with a handful of drugs, but the former quarterback said they weren't his.

"They're absolutely not mine," Manziel told TMZ Sports, adding that he plans to stay clean after July 1, which is Friday. "I don't even know that girl."

While it's hard to take the wayward former Heisman Trophy winner's words to heart, especially with Fourth of July celebrations on the horizon, a source connected to him said they believe he will clean up his act in pursuit of a return to the NFL, which realistically wouldn't likely happen until the 2017 campaign.

"I do believe he's serious," the source told ESPN. "He's talked for a while about knuckling down, getting ready and working out. It's more about health and having options and feeling good. If that works out for this season, great. But if not, that's OK too."

The Browns cut Manziel back in March and he has since been dumped by two agents due to his unwillingness to take a return to the NFL seriously and stop partying. He also had a lawyer close to him leak important, damaging information about him recently -- revealing just how horrible his drug problem is.

Manziel's father also referred to him as a "druggie" and said he hoped he'd end up in jail, something which was mocked by the former signal caller on Instagram.

It's hard to imagine an NFL team taking a chance on signing Manziel in the near future given all of his issues.

Manziel, 23, has had a lot of trouble staying away from the party scene and was also recently indicted by a Dallas jury for an alleged physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend, model Colleen Crowley.

The former quarterback was also recently sued for allegedly causing $32,000 worth of damage to a home he and his party friends rented for a two-day alcohol and drug-fueled binge in Los Angeles. On top of his incidents, Manziel has been involved in at least two vehicular accidents as well this offseason.

Manziel released a statement vowing to clean up his act back in April -- which was followed by out of control partying -- so it's hard to take his word this time around.

"I'm hoping to take care of the issues in front of me right now so I can focus on what I have to do if I want to play in 2016," Manziel said in a statement provided to USA Today Sports back in April. "I also continue to be thankful to those who really know me and support me."

Until he shows he means it, it's hard to bet on Johnny Football returning.
