Brock Lesnar won't be next for Bill Goldberg if Paul Heyman has his way.

"The Beast" locked horns with the former WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion in an infamous match at Madison Square Garden at WrestleMania XX.

The clash was won by Goldberg, but it's most memorable for being a train wreck since the New York City crowd knew both men were leaving the WWE and decided to turn against the bout.

The only person over in the entire contest was the special guest referee, WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. With Goldberg now involved with the WWE for its "WWE 2K17" video game, there has been speculation he may return to the squared circle, perhaps even getting a chance to face Lesnar again in a better match.

Heyman recently said he doesn't foresee any reason why his client would need to face Goldberg again, despite Lesnar losing their last meeting and the 2004 match being well below expectations.

"I don't think Brock Lesnar needs to exact revenge for WrestleMania XX because, if you now fast forward to the year 2016, it's not Goldberg that's on the cover of WWE 2K17," Heyman told Games Radar. "It's Brock Lesnar."

While Heyman doesn't see the necessity for a rematch, Goldberg recently admitted he would love to get back in the squared circle with Lesnar if the stars aligned properly.

"There hasn't been a day go by since he and I stepped out of that ring in Madison Square Garden I haven't wanted to hook up with him again," Goldberg told Roman Mahut about a potential rematch with Lesnar. "For sure."

If the two were to once again battle it out, one stage that makes sense would be WWE SummerSlam on Aug. 21 right back at New York City -- this time in Brooklyn -- at the Barclays Center. Lesnar is set to get some heavy mainstream exposure when he returns to the UFC to battle Mark Hunt on July 9 at UFC 200.

The WWE could carry that momentum into a potential rematch with Goldberg, who has said he's open to a return should the WWE make an offer that convinces him to come on board.

"Hey man, I think it's widely known at this stage that I am willing to put past differences aside and make some money and do the right thing for the fans," Goldberg told 411 Mania. "If it happens, it happens. It's all good. If it doesn't, I truly am not going to miss a beat of my life. I am busy right now with my family, let alone all my other projects. It's an opportunity if it presents itself. Am I holding my breath? If I am, I must be pretty damn good because that means I've been holding it for the last 12 years, which I haven't."
