Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, the St. Louis Blues (8-2-2, 18 points) and the Montreal Canadiens (8-7-0, 16 points) go head-to-head for the first of two meetings this season live from the Bell Centre in Montreal. The game can be live streamed here. St. Louis fans can hear all of the hard-hitting action by turning their dials to KMOX 1120 while Montreal fans can do the same on TSN 690
St. Louis enters play in fourth place in the Central Division, six points behind the division-leading Colorado Avalanche, while Montreal enters in fifth place in the Atlantic Division, five points behind the first place Tampa Bay Lightning.
A 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday handed the Blues their first regulation loss in seven games, leading to coach Ken Hitchcock mixing up the lines in practice on Monday.
"I'm going to say it again, for us to get better, we need more participants," Hitchcock told the Post-Dispatch. "So sometimes it doesn't matter how good you have one line, you need more participants. Possibly it's the time that they use their impact to help other people play better. We need that. We need more people playing better."
The Canadiens also lost on Saturday, as they suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche, leading to head coach Michel Therrien moving Alex Galchenyuk to his natural position at center for the first time since his transition to the NHL.
"I've liked his development since last season," Therrien said via NHL.com. "He's gained some confidence and he's gained some comprehension of the game. We've been thinking about [moving him to center] for a while, but we needed to find the right moment. It just so happened that moment was the third period of the last game. I liked what I saw."
P.K. Subban has led the way for the Canadiens with 14 points off of three goals and a team-high 11 assists while Tomas Plekanec (6-5-11), Galchenyuk (2-9-11) and Brendan Gallagher (team-high seven goals, three assists, ten points) have each pitched in thus far this season.
The Blues, meanwhile, have been led by Alex Steen, who paces the team in goals (12) and points (18) while adding six assists while David Backes (6-8-14), Alex Pietrangelo (4-8-12) and T.J. Oshie (2-9-11) have also been solid.
Jaroslav Halak may get the nod in the crease against his old team for the Blues and he's started 10 games while going 7-2-1 with a 2.35 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage, while Carey Price has gone 6-6-0 with a 2.18 GAA and a .932 save percentage for Montreal.
Both of these teams look to put losses behind them when the lights come on tonight at Bell Centre in Montreal.
