Jonathan Toews is no stranger to hardware, but this time it was his teammate picking up an award of his own.

Patrick Kane, who has three Stanley Cup championships with the Blackhawks captain, became the first American-born player to ever win the Hart Trophy as the NHL's MVP.

Kane was announced as the winner at the NHL Awards on Wednesday, beating out Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, who just won his second Stanley Cup, and Stars captain Jamie Benn.

Kane, 27, became the only Blackhawks player to ever take home the award after starting the season with a bang and never looking back. The winger paced the entire NHL with 106 points and placed second in the league with 46 goals.

Toews took to Twitter, where he's had some fun with Kane in the past, and congratulated his teammate and friend on winning the trophy, while also congratulating Artemi Panarin for winning the Colder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie:

While dealing with an off-ice rape accusation which ultimately proved false, Kane put together a 26-game point streak from Oct. 17 through Dec. 13, setting a Blackhawks record and a mark for U.S.-born players. He also had seven tallies and 12 points over his final five games of the season.

Panarin, 24, led all rookies with 30 goals, 47 assists and 77 points, earning the Calder, an award Kane picked up himself at the conclusion of the 2007-08 campaign.

Chicago finished 47-26-9 in the 2015-16 season and had 103 points to grab the third and final playoff spot in the Central division. The Blackhawks then fell to the Blues in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs in seven games, ultimately failing in their quest to repeat as Stanley Cup champions.

Kane and Panarin, however, didn't go home empty-handed at the conclusion of this season.
