David Price knows what it's like to be dealt at the MLB trade deadline, but this year he's ready to welcome some new teammates to his own clubhouse.

In 2014,the Rays dealt their franchise left-hander to the Tigers and last year, he was shipped out of Detroit in a deal to the Blue Jays.

With the Red Sox entering Tuesday's showdown with the Orioles tied for first place with an identical 36-26 record to Baltimore, Price is confident Boston will make a trade by the time the Aug. 1 deadline rolls around.

"Everybody's always interested in that, especially given kind of the situation that our organization has put itself in," Price told the Boston Herald. "Obviously, we have, you know, the money to pick up contracts, we have a ton of prospects. We have [president of baseball operations] Dave Dombrowski, who is never scared to make a big splash. That's not the case for a lot of teams."

Price, 30, is 7-3 with a 4.63 ERA in his first year with Boston after signing an astounding seven-year, $217 million contract with the Red Sox this offseason. Though his ERA is high, Price is second in the American League with 91 strikeouts this season.

The Red Sox are 11th in team ERA (4.22) in the majors, but lead the MLB with a .291 team batting average and 369 runs scored.

Price is confident the Boston front office will do everything it can to improve the club in the next six weeks.

"I think whenever you get to this point with a lot of teams, you might not pay as much attention because you don't think that there will be a move made, or even a bold move," Price said. "Here, they're going to do whatever they can to make this team better. I think it's exciting just to see what could happen."

The former Cy Young Award winner didn't exactly say which aspect of the team he'd improve, but it's no secret the Red Sox's formidable lineup is outweighing its lackluster pitching thus far.

"It can be a shot in the arm, a little booster for sure," Price said. "I guess it kind of just all depends on the player that's traded."
