The Giants and Cardinals are set to open up a three-game series live from Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Friday night.

San Francisco has won four of its last seven games on its 10-match road trip and is coming off of a four-game split with the Braves. St. Louis returns home for a brief three-game homestand after going 4-3 on an away stint that spanned seven games.

Johnny Cueto (8-1, 2.31 ERA) takes the ball for the Giants, while the Cardinals counter with Adam Wainwright (5-3, 5.71 ERA). Cueto, who is dealing with a stiff back, is tied for second in the majors in wins this season. St. Louis has won Wainwright's last seven starts.

The Cardinals have a tall task in playing a Giants team that closed out May with 16 wins in their final 19 games. St. Louis, meanwhile, will play 13 of its next 16 contests on the road.

The Cardinals were hoping to have Jhonny Peralta (finger) back for this series, but he remains sidelined. In his absence, Aledmys Diaz has ranked fourth in the NL with a .328 batting average. Matt Carpenter, who welcomed his first daughter into the world with his wife this week, is tied for second in the league with four triples.

Giants outfielder Gregor Blanco also has four triples this season, while first baseman Brandon Belt is fourth in the NL with a .425 on-base percentage.
