Goldberg still feels like he has plenty of matches left in him -- it just depends on the situation.
The former WWE and WCW World Heavyweight Champion hasn't appeared in a WWE ring since 2004, but many of his fans are pining for a return to Vince McMahon's company.
It seems like things are trending in the right direction on that front now that the former man behind the 173-0 streak in WCW has signed on to be a part of the WWE 2K17 video game.
When asked about a potential return to the squared circle, Goldberg said he's physically ready for one, but may not return unless the plans are to his liking.
"I've got 50 more [matches] in me," Goldberg told WWE.com. "It just depends on the ability to keep it up to my standards. I love everybody to death and I greatly appreciate their opinions, but none of it matters except for mine, because I hold myself to such high standards. The reality is, you've got movies, TV appearances, a kid, you're 49 years old ... things aren't like they used to be. It's a completely different day. I'm 20 to 30 pounds less than what I was because I just don't need to be that dude with traps from his ears to his shoulders. Would I like to be that guy again? Absolutely. He's still in there."
Goldberg last wrestled in a WWE ring at WrestleMania XX in a much-maligned match with Brock Lesnar at Madison Square Garden in New York City. With the fans knowing both combatants were leaving, they completely turned on the match and only cheered for special guest referee "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
The wrestling legend was approached to return to the WWE in 2014 for WrestleMania XXX, but his negotiations with wrestler-turned-executive Triple H fell through. He said he eventually agreed to do WWE 2K17 after having talks of being in WWE video games for years and accepting the offer during a phone call from the WWE.
With the lines of communication open, there is some hope that Goldberg will return for another match. There are plenty of Superstars for Goldberg to feud with if he does return.
As for his tenure, Goldberg told the site he is happy with how his time in the WWE went down.
"Hell yeah, it was successful. I got paid and I put smiles on people's faces, so I don't think you can say that it wasn't a success by any stretch of the imagination," he said. "At the end of the day, leaving WrestleMania, having my hand raised, beating Brock Lesnar ... I'd say it was a pretty successful tenure."
