The Sharks are one win away from their frist trip to the Stanley Cup Final, while the Blues are hoping to avoid elimination when the puck drops at the SAP Center in San Jose for Game 6 of the Western Conference Final.
San Jose will look to advance to Round 4 by clinching the Western Conference Final for the first time in four tries in franchise history, while St. Louis will look to force its third straight Game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Blues took Games 1 and 4 of this series, while the Sharks took Games 2, 3 and then 5 to take a 3-2 series lead back to the Shark Tank. San Jose toppled St. Louis, 6-3, on Monday in Game 5.
The Sharks struggled in San Jose this season, but have been tremendous there in the playoffs.
"We feel confident in our building," Sharks captain Joe Pavelski said via NHL.com. "To have it at home for Game 6 with a chance to close it out, it's definitely one of those moments, you know they're treating it like a Game 7."
Pavelski scored twice in Game 5 to give him a club-leading 12 tallies and 21 points in the playoffs, while Joel Ward also lit the lamp twice for his third and fourth goals of the postseason.
Marc-Edouard Vlasic (1) and Chris Tierney (5) also found the twine for San Jose as Logan Couture picked up his team-leading 14th assist of the spring.
Jaden Schwartz and Robby Fabbri each had their fourth goal of the playoffs for the Blues in Game 5, while Troy Brouwer found the back of the net for his team-leading eighth goal. Fabbri leads St. Louis in helpers (11) and points (15) this postseason.
Jake Allen allowed four goals on 25 shots in Game 5 between the pipes for St. Louis and will now yield to Brian Elliott. Elliott had started 17 straight playoff games for the Blues before Allen took over in Games 4 and 5.
"Reset him a bit," defenseman Alex Pietrangelo said via NHL.com. "He's played a lot of hockey, made some important saves for us throughout this entire playoffs. He's played great for us, stood on his head."
Elliott is 9-8 with a 2.34 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
San Jose will counter with Martin Jones, who made 18 saves on 21 shots in Game 5. Jones is 11-6 in these playoffs with a 2.13 GAA and a .918 save percentage.
