CM Punk will be facing Mickey Gall eventually and it appears the two with fight late in the summer.

There has been a lot of anticipation for the former WWE Superstar's UFC debut, but myriad setbacks have kept him out of the Octagon. Gall, 24, has been patiently awaiting his next fight after winning his UFC debut and earning the right to face Punk.

Punk, 37, has had difficulty adjusting to the UFC realm, but his latest delay had to do with back surgery he needed to undergo due to years of wear and tear on his body from pro wrestling.

Though many people have doubted whether or not Punk will ever make his debut, Gall revealed there is a time table for their fight. The New Jersey native posted on Instagram that he was training for the bout and noted it will take place sometime in the late summer.

It isn't an official date, but it at least is a time table and a sign that Punk will actually set foot inside the cage in a few months.

While Gall is working hard for the fight, there have been rumors that Punk's training hasn't quite paid off just yet.

There are numerous accounts of Punk training, but not progressing in the way he should as an MMA fighter, according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer (via Wrestlingheadlines.com). Meltzer notes that there have been consistent reports that Punk hasn't fared well during sparring sessions in the gym.

That may not bode well for his debut fight against Gall, an experienced MMA fighter who is looking to use Punk as a stepping stone in the UFC.

Gall hasn't been shy about expressing how he doesn't take Punk seriously and he has repeatedly said he wants to beat him and move on to some real competiton. He's noted that summer was the goal for the fight on several occasions.

"Let me tell you, I hope it's soon. I think it's going to be this summer, which I can do. I can wait," Gall recently told the SFLC Podcast (per Fox Sports). "I'm training and I'm getting better and what I can't wait for is to get my fight with CM Punk, beat CM Punk and then get started with the UFC roster."
