A return to the NFL is the least of Johnny Manziel's problems right now.

The former Browns quarterback was cut from the team in March, but he apparently hasn't been able to shake his constant partying ways. Johnny Football, in fact, has only gotten worse as close friends of his believe if he continues his drug and alcohol use, he may die.

"He's in a horrible downward spiral," a source close to the quarterback told TMZ Sports.

Manziel, 23, has partied it up nearly all across the U.S. since being cut from the Browns, despite the fact that he vowed to clean up his act. Manziel has tried rehab in the past and a group of friends even attempted a bit of an intervention recently.

When confronted by his friends, a source told TMZ that Manziel "flipped out and wouldn't hear it," and the former Heisman Trophy winner continues to trend downward. It's gotten so bad that he got into a fight at a Las Vegas nightclub on Friday, leading to several promoters in Sin City not allowing him in their establishments.

"He's too much of a risk," a nightclub source told TMZ. "He's a good guy, but he's a f--king mess."

Manziel has had plenty of difficulty staying away from the party scene. His troubling ways caused two agents to dump him this offseason and the Browns to cut him.

Last month, Manziel and his pals allegedly caused about $32,000 of damage to a home they rented in Los Angeles. He was also seen "wasted and chain smoking" at Coachella.

Manziel, who was recently indicted by a Dallas jury for an alleged physical altercation with his model ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, vowed to clean up his act to get back to the NFL.

"I'm hoping to take care of the issues in front of me right now so I can focus on what I have to do if I want to play in 2016," Manziel said in his statement, according to USA Today Sports. "I also continue to be thankful to those who really know me and support me."

Unfortunately, all of the support Manziel received hasn't helped him clean up his act and as one source close to him put it, the quarterback's life is in jeopardy.

"If he continues this way for much longer," the source said, "he will die."
