The WWE granted Cody Rhodes his release over the weekend and several Superstars have reacted.

Rhodes, who was most recently competing under the name Stardust, later revealed he was frustrated over his direction in the WWE and constantly being ignored by the creative team.

The Superstar was a second-generation WWE talent as his father, Dusty Rhodes, who passed away last June, is a WWE Hall of Famer. Rhodes' brother, Goldust, and wife, ring announcer Eden, are expected to stay with the company.

A statement was released by the WWE after granting Rhodes his departure request.

"WWE has come to terms on the release of Cody Rhodes as of today, May 22, 2016," the company wrote on its website. "WWE wishes Rhodes the best in all his future endeavors."

Rhodes also released a lengthy statement detailing his departure, which can be viewed here. He also hinted at wrestling elsewhere down the line.

Rhodes, 30, spent 10 years in the WWE, but his release isn't an angle as he's told those close to him he's contemplated it for a long time, according to PWInsider. The Superstar is a two-time Intercontinental Champion and six-time WWE World Tag Team Champion.

The WWE was content to let Rhodes' contract expire, but after he was adamant about his release, they came to terms with him.

Several WWE Superstars have reacted to Rhodes' departure:
