The revamped women's division in the WWE suffered a major setback to a key player.

It was revealed Monday that Emma suffered a back injury while working a live event for the company over the weekend. After undergoing tests, it was determined she needed to have surgery to repair the injury.

"Emma has a ruptured disc that will require her to have surgery," explained WWE ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson to WWE.com. "She came to us in a great deal of pain, which seemed to be increasing. She was then given an M.R.I., which revealed that further action would need to be taken. Unfortunately, the Superstar's estimated recovery time cannot be determined until after her procedure is complete."

The timing of the injury is unfortunate as Emma just recently made her main roster debut from NXT during WrestleMania 32 season, teaming with Team B.A.D. & Blonde in a losing effort against Team Total Divas.

It's also awful timing because Dana Brooke made her main roster debut last week on "Monday Night RAW."

Brooke and Emma took out Becky Lynch last week on the flagship show, becoming known as team "EnD."

It was expected that the "Lass Kicker" would employ someone to help her even up the odds, but now with Emma sidelined, the WWE has to flip the script. This week on "RAW," Lynch and Brooke went one-on-one, in a match that was won by Brooke.

The WWE also continued to put an emphasis on women's wrestling by having Women's Champion Charlotte and Natalya close the show with the contract signing for their Submission Match at Extreme Rules this Sunday live from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Emma and the other women's wrestlers reacted to the unfortunate injury on Twitter:
