Trish Stratus is the third WWE Hall of Famer in recent memory to heap praise on Sasha Banks as the future of women's wrestling.

"The Boss" has opened a lot of eyes, despite the WWE never truly giving her a real chance to shine since her main roster call up last summer.

In NXT, Banks tore down the house and put women's wrestling on the map with Bayley, especially at Takeover: Brooklyn in August and Takeover: Respect in October.

Despite her having a tremendous look, great mic skills, strong in-ring ability and a solid character, the WWE has halted Banks' push. It seemed the former NXT Women's Champion would win the WWE's greatest prize for women at WrestleMania 32, but the company opted to keep the belt on Charlotte.

Their clash -- which also included Becky Lynch -- was easily one of the best matches of the night.

Banks has been noticeably absent in the WWE's main storylines over the last few months. Stratus, who went from a managerial role where she was primarily used as eye candy to a legitimate in-ring performer, believes Banks will be the future of the division.

"Sasha, to me, is a star," Stratus told Sports Illustrated. "There are a lot of comparisons, but I don't think we are that similar, actually, at all. But she's the star of the division, and she's the one. She really knows her character, she owns her character, and she's so solid in the ring."

The seven-time Women's Champion also said she'd like to work with Ronda Rousey and could see a comeback to the ring if she was able to work as a heel and elevate another character on the roster.

When the WWE turned Banks into a babyface, it seemed she'd become the No. 1 star in the company, but thus far she's been placed on the backburner.

Stratus is just the latest Hall of Famer to praise "The Boss" as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin called her one of his favorites and said the WWE needs to push her strongly again, while Bret Hart praised her as a "real innovator."

Banks didn't win the revamped Women's Championship at WrestleMania 32, though it seemed inevitable, but it's likely Banks' moment in the sun will occur at SummerSlam in August.

It recently seemed like Banks was frustrated with her lack of use, but she cleared up any perceived unhappiness.

Her fans and Hall of Famers have called for the Banks mega push. Hopefully the WWE listens soon.

Do you think the WWE should push Sasha Banks more strongly?
