Jonathon Toews won three Stanley Cups alongside teammate Patrick Kane, but that doesn't mean he earned a Twitter follow from his fellow Blackhawks leader.

Chicago, the defending Stanley Cup champion, fell to the St. Louis Blues in seven games in Round 1 of this year's Stanley Cup playoffs.

The loss undoubtedly stung for a group that entered the campaign with high hopes after notching its third Stanley Cup in six years last season.

Though they sustained a Round 1 exit for the first time since the 2012 playoffs, it at least gave Toews and Kane some free time for some friendly Twitter banter.

It all started when Toews, who is relatively new to social media -- joining Twitter this past February -- called out Kane on Twitter for not following him after a happy birthday shoutout:

Kane, a Hart Trophy favorite for league MVP after having a tremendous regular season, then took aim at Toew's old Captain Serious nickname:

Toews wasn't quite aware of what people meant when they replied and called him G.O.A.T. as in greatest of all time:

The Blackhawks captain learned quickly, however, and had a goat joke of his own up his sleeve:

Kane, 27, had a tremendous year for Chicago, leading the league with 106 points off of 46 goals and 60 assists. Toews, 28, had 28 goals, 30 assists and 58 points for the Blackhawks.

The dynamic duo, however, combined for just one goal in their playoff series against the Blues, a double-overtime game-winner by Kane in Game 5 with the club facing elimination. It wasn't enough to help Chicago overcome St. Louis.

They may not have hoisted the Cup together this year, but Kane and Toews are still providing entertainment on social media.

Which Blackhawks forward is most important to the team?
