The Capitals and Penguins are set to hit the ice at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh for a huge Game 4 on Wednesday as part of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs.

Washington is looking to even up the series at 2-2 before it shifts back to the nation's capital, while Pittsburgh hopes to hold down home-ice and take a commanding 3-1 lead back with it on the road.

The Capitals drew first-blood in this series with a 4-3 overtime victory in Game 1, but it's been all Penguins since then. Pittsburgh took Game 2 by a 2-1 score on Saturday and followed it up with a 3-2 win in Game 3 on Monday.

If one thing is certain, this should be a close game as every other contest was settled by one goal.

The Penguins jumped out to an early three-goal lead last time out on tallies from Patric Hornqvist (4), Tom Kuhnacki (2) and Carl Hagelin.

Hagelin's marker was assisted by linemates Phil Kessel and Nick Bonino. That line has combined for 10 points in this series.

Hornqvist has paced Pittsburgh in goals in these playoffs, while Evgeni Malkin is first in points (9) and Bonino leads the team in helpers (8).

Alex Ovechkin (4) and Justin Williams (1) lit the lamp for Washington in the third period, but the comeback bid fell short. Ovechkin's four goals lead the club this postseason, while Jon Carlson is first in assists (6) and points (10).

Kris Letang will serve a one-game suspension on Wednesday for his interference penalty on Marcus Johansson in Game 3. Johansson (undisclosed) is expected to skate in Game 4.

The Penguins may be without their top two defenseman as Olli Maatta is a game-time decision after getting injured by a Brooks Orpik hit in Game 2. Orpik will serve the second game of a three-game suspension.

Rookie Matt Murray will man the crease for Pittsburgh after stopping 47 of the 49 shots he faced in Game 3. Braden Holtby will counter for Washington after yielding three goals on 23 shots last time out.
