Now, people can debate whether LeBron James is better than Michael Jordan at acting as well as basketball.

The Cavaliers star is set to take the lead role in "Space Jam 2," which will be the sequel to the 1996 movie that Jordan starred in. In the original, the NBA Hall of Famer teamed up with the Looney Tunes to take out the Monstars, a group of aliens, in an epic basketball game.

Justin Lin is in talks to direct the film and James has been tabbed as its star, according to Variety. Lin, who helped revive the "Fast and the Furious" franchise is writing the film along with Andrew Dodge, and there were rumors James would be a part of it ever since he and his Springhill Entertainment company signed a deal with Warner Bros.

James has drawn comparisons to Jordan throughout his NBA career and he made his big screen debut in the Judd Apatow-directed film "Trainwreck," in which he played himself alongside actors Amy Schumer and Bill Hader.

It's unknown when the movie will hit theaters, but it is highly-anticipated. The original movie with Jordan shot to No. 1 and became the highest-grossing basketball movie ever up to that point, raking in $230 million. The original Space Jam website can be found here.
