Just one game in, this series has already lived up to all the hype and that is sure to continue when the Capitals and Penguins take the ice at Verizon Center in Washington D.C. for Game 2 of their Round 2 Stanley Cup playoff series.

Pittsburgh will look to overcome a crushing Game 1 defeat to tie the series up before it shifts to the Consol Energy Center, while Washington tries to shore up home ice by taking a commanding 2-0 series lead on the road with it.

The Capitals fired the first salvo in this series in what was a shootout of a Game 1 by overcoming the Penguins, 4-3, in overtime.

T.J. Oshie once again proved how masterful trading for him was as he lifted the Capitals with a hat trick in Game 1 -- which included netting the game-winner 9:33 into overtime. Oshie now has a team-best four goals and seven points this postseason.

Andre Burakovsky (1) had the other Washington goal, while Alex Ovechkin picked up an assist (3).

Evgeni Malkin netted his third tally of the playoffs in the loss for the Penguins and Nick Bonino and Ben Lovejoy found the twine for their first of the postseason.

Carl Hagelin had two assists, while Sidney Crosby, who leads Pittsburgh with three goals and eight points through six games in the playoffs, was held off the score sheet.

In the crease, Vezina Trophy finalist Braden Holtby yielded three goals and turned aside 42 shots for Washington. Pittsburgh's rookie netminder Matt Murray suffered the first postseason loss of his career after going 3-0 in Round 1 against the Rangers, allowing four goals on 35 shots.
