Legendary Hoosiers coach Bobby Knight truly believes Donald Trump can make America great again.

The retired men's basketball coach recently announced that he is throwing his support behind the Republican Presidential candidate at a rally in Indiana. Knight praised Trump, who is known to speak his mind, for his honesty.

"There has never been a more honest politician than Donald Trump," Knight told the crowd of 5,000 supporters at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, according to Inside Edition. "I am not here to represent the Republican Party and I'm not here to represent any organization that deals with politics. I think the most important thing in the world is that we vote for the best man there is for this job."

The endorsement is a huge boost for Trump as Knight is a hero in Indiana.

Trump tweeted after Knight's endorsement:

This event came just after Ted Cruz's mortifying basketball flub earlier this week. Cruz, who claimed to be a huge fan of "Hoosiers," the 1986 Knight biopic, had a gaffe when it came to sports terminology.

"The amazing thing is, that basketball ring in Indiana, it's the same height as it is New York City and every other place in this country," Cruz said at a rally on Tuesday night.

Cruz was looking for the word hoop.

Knight, 75, finished his coaching career with a 902-371 record and racked up three NCAA championships, five NCAA regional championships, 11 Big 10 regular season championships and eight Big 10 Coach of the Year awards.

He coached the Hoosiers to undefeated regular seasons in 1974-75 and 1975-76 and the '76 team remains the last undefeated team to this day.

Not a bad ally for Trump to have on his side in Indiana.
