When Carson Wentz's name gets called on Thursday, he'll already be prepared for the big time.

There are a lot of qualms about Wentz not being ready to play in an NFL-style offense due to the fact that he played on a lower college level.

The Eagles are expected to select the former North Dakota State quarterback with the second overall pick in the NFL Draft in Chicago, but Wentz's former coach, Chris Klieman attempted to quell any fears among the signal caller's doubters.

Klieman pointed out that Wentz comes from an offensive background that will be on par with what he's expected to run under new Eagles coach Doug Pederson.

"The style of offense we play in -- we're a huddle, West Coast offense," Klieman told the New York Times. "We're going to go under center, let the quarterback change protections, audible to run. . . . All those things are a little lost in college football because a lot of guys go no-huddle and look to the sideline to see what the coordinator's going to run."

Wentz was 130-for-208 (62.5 percent) for North Dakota State in 2015 for 1,615 yards with 17 touchdowns and four interceptions. Over his four years at the school, Wentz owned a 64.1 completion percentage while throwing for 5,115 yards with 45 scores and 14 picks.

He also rushed for 1,028 yards on 216 carries with 13 touchdowns.

It is expected that the Rams will select quarterback Jared Goff from California to usher in their first season in Los Angeles, while the Eagles will then select Wentz.

The Eagles landed the No. 2 overall pick along with a compensatory selection from the Browns in exchange for their first-rounder (8th), third-rounder (77th) and fourth-rounder (100th) in this year's draft along with their first-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft and second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Wentz will likely backup Sam Bradford, who recently requested a trade, and Chase Daniels in Philadelphia, but he said he hasn't heard from the team.

"I have not," Wentz said, according to CBS Sports. "You want to get on the field as soon as you can."
