Brandon Meriweather Apologizes To Brandon Marshall Over Domestic Violence Comments, Helmet-to-Helmet Hits [VIDEO]

Brandon Meriweather has apologized to Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall after he told reporters last week "I feel like people who beat their girlfriends should be kicked out of the league."

Meriweather also told ESPN "you tell me who you'd rather have? Someone who plays aggressive on the field or someone who beat up their girlfriend?"

Meriweather's taunts were in response to Marshall's words from just days earlier when he saidMeriweather deserved to be severely disciplined and maybe even banned from the league given his history of illegal hits. Marshall, meanwhile, has been arrested several times on domestic violence charges.

The Washington Redskins safety recently drew a one-game suspension for helmet-to-helmet hits he delivered on Marshall and fellow Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery when his Redskins recently faced the Bears.

"I spoke to Brandon," said NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith. "He is passionate about the game, and I know he is sorry for what he said. He is concentrating on helping his team win the rest of the season. Brandon knows that all players have a responsibility to each other and to play within the rules of the game."

According to ESPN, the NFL will not seek to discipline Meriweather any further in the wake of his comments, but will closely monitor his play on the field this week.

"I'm praying for that guy," Marshall told ESPN. "He actually reached out to me last week and I told him that I was more concerned about him and his health, because I think a few weeks before our game I saw him lying on the field just out cold. It was a scary situation. I never want to see him or any player lay out like that. As far as what he said today; you can only pray for someone with those feelings. So that's all I have to say about that."
