Tom Brady wasn't always poised to live a glamorous life.

The Patriots quarterback has four Super Bowls under his belt, is married to smokin' hot model Gisele Bundchen and is a millionaire. However, it wasn't easy getting there for him.

Brady appeared at the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival on Tuesday and participated on a panel for Judd Ehrlich's upcoming documentary, "Keepers of the Game." It was there that he revealed the growing pains he went through when he first started to sling footballs.

"I didn't start playing football till freshman year of high school," Brady said on the panel, according to Page Six. I didn't even know how to put the pads in my pants when I showed up to the first day of practice. I was the backup quarterback. We went 0-8 -- which tells you how bad our team was. I couldn't get in the lineup, and we didn't even win a game."

It's safe to bet that the Jets, Bills and Dolphins wish Brady's dreams were dashed there. The signal caller and the Patriots have had a stranglehold on the division, winning the AFC East for seven straight years and 12 of 14 seasons during Brady's career.

Rather than give up, Brady waded through the struggles and said it helped him to understand the "perseverance to do what you love to do." Not only did he persevere, but Brady will go down as one of the all-time greats in NFL history.

Brady went from freshman year backup to a four-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Super Bowl MVP, two-time NFL MVP and 11-time Pro Bowler. He has also flourished in his personal life.

Brady has been with model Gisele Bundchen since 2006, and the couple has been married since 2009. This offseason, the couple has taken a few romantic trips together, including an excursion to Costa Rica and they recently celebrated their seven-year wedding anniversary.

Life is good for Brady, even if he wasn't always on pace to be one of the best of all time.
