Seth Rollins' run on top of the WWE was derailed by an untimely knee injury, causing him to forfeit the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

"The Architect" was carrying the promotion on his back and the WWE rewarded him by booking him to win the richest prize in the game at WrestleMania 31 in March 2015. In November, he sustained a very serious knee ailment, causing him to relinquish the belt, which was won by his former stablemate Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 32.

Rollins has been working his way toward a return and he's expected to be back within the next couple of months. When he finally makes his comeback, he isn't slated to be in the main event picture -- at least not right away, according to Cageside Seats.

After everything Rollins has done for the company, that is an outrage. When Brock Lesnar was a part-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion in late 2014, "The Architect" almost single-handedly carried the company on his back while "The Beast" was absent.

Rollins put on plenty of great matches and grew into his own as a heel character after leaving The Shield in June 2014. The WWE rewarded Rollins' good faith with his shocking title win at WrestleMania 31 and kept the belt on him until the injury.

Since he never lost the gold, it would only make sense for him to go right after the title upon his return, likely a program with Reigns, with whom he has a lot of history.

If the rumor is true, Rollins may be lost in the shuffle upon his comeback. While he can have some amazing dream matches in the midcard with the likes of AJ Styles, Sami Zayn and others, there's no reason those potentially show-stealing programs can't be a part of the main event scene.

Rollins gave it his all to the WWE and was a great champion, but if they don't use him in a good way, it will continue a pattern. After he finally won the richest prize in the game, the creative team confusingly had him enter a rivalry with Kane despite myriad better options on the roster.

It seemed the WWE finally realized what it had in Rollins as a character and in-ring star at WrestleMania 31, but if he returns and doesn't factor into the main event scene, it's yet another possible future face of the franchise squandered.
