Struggling receiver Kenny Britt could very well be on the trading block as the Tennessee Titans could be looking to move the oft-punished wide receiver as he's in the final year of his contract. As the trade deadline approaches Tuesday at 4:00 p.m., Britt has said that he's fine with staying and that he would also accept a change of scenery, but are the Titans willing to pull the trigger?
"It would be great to stay, as long as they're giving me opportunities that I should get, especially since I've been working hard and doing the right things out there," Britt told reporters Monday on the eve of the deadline, per The Tennessean. "Going somewhere else and having a fresh start, it would be good also. But where my mind is right now is just probably staying here because everything is here -- my family is here and stuff like that."
Britt's comments reflect the fact that he hasn't given up on his tenure in Tennessee despite his struggles, but he'd also be willing to make a move to another location.
NFL.com reports that Britt, a first-round pick (30th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft by Tennessee, would most likely be traded for cheap as the Titans is looking to unload him, but there may not be too many teams that are interested in him.
Britt has had a rough season that has been filled with too many drops and penalties, leading to snaps become limited benchings throughout the troubled season. Even if he doesn't get traded at the deadline which is just hours away, this will most likely be his last season in a Titans uniform after his contract expires.
On top of his on the field struggles with in-game action, Britt has had some distractions with off the field problems and has dealt with knee injuries. Some of Britt's off the field problems include a DUI he received:
On the season, the fifth-year receiver has just eight receptions through six games for 67 yards and has yet to reach the end zone.
The Titans are willing to move him and Britt is flexible with staying or going, but the question remains if any other team around the league would be willing to take a gamble on an embattled receiver as the deadline draws near.
