Charlotte is carving out a name for herself in the WWE's Diva division, but it's been hard for people to not think of her as Ric Flair's daughter.

There's nothing wrong with being linked to one of the greatest legends of all time and a 16-time World Champion, but eventually, she needs to branch out on her own. Charlotte said she is trying to carve her own path, but it's hard to look beyond her father constantly being in her corner.

The reigning WWE Divas Champion even said herself she was skeptical at being paired with "The Nature Boy" at first.

"For one, he's my parent in crime, that's what I labeled him as, but when I heard they were going to pair him with me, I really kind of got nervous," Charlotte told the PodNasty podcast. "I looked at my dad as one of the greatest talkers of all time, and I was like, 'Oh no they're putting with him, and I need a mouthpiece,' and obviously I have to share the stage every week with, in my eyes, the greatest of all time. People are probably like 'She's just thinking [she's] walking out there with [her] dad.'"

While Charlotte has done well for herself as Divas Champion ever since dethroning Nikki Bella at Night of Champions, the reasons for her to worry were legitimate.

Seeing her flanked by her father certainly is nice due to their bond, but it also impedes on her goal to create her own legacy. Charlotte revealed she got over it by not seeing her as his dad when they're working together.

"At work, I don't see dad, I see him as my manager and he's my co-worker," she said. "I don't want him to steal my spotlight, so it really forced me to get deep and own this heel turn that has really just given me life on the main roster and separated me from the Divas Revolution, when I first started as just kind of a babyface, Ric's daughter. I really took it as a challenge, and wanted to get better in all aspects and I've always felt more comfortable being a heel to begin with."

Charlotte has vastly improved as a heel and is one of the most athetically gifted talents on the roster, but it might behoove the WWE to have her split into her own person down the line.

Flair will certainly be in his daughter's corner when she makes her WrestleMania debut on April 3 by defending her gold against Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat Match, a bout that could potentially steal the show.
