It's been a whirlwind of a week for Alex Rodriguez, but it seems his new rumored girlfriend is still playing coy about their relationship
It was revealed that A-Rod has deviated from his usual type -- blondes -- and began seeing Anne Wojcicki, the brunette ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, for at least a month.
Though Wojcicki was said to be quite taken with the Yankees designated hitter, she appears to be very secretive about the relationship. The CEO and co-founder of 23andMe, a genetic research firm, attended a gathering of powerful women in San Francisco on Monday.
Though she addressed having a new boyfriend, Wojcicki was said to be very quiet about it.
"She was saying she was 'kind of seeing someone,' " a source from the event told Page Six, saying she added, "We'll see."
Perhaps she's skeptical about being with Rodriguez due to his sordid history with women. Maybe she's trying to keep it quiet after getting divorced from Brin. It's also possible the relationship is too new for her to go public with it or that she's still feeling things out.
Rodriguez, who announced he is likely to retire after the 2017 season when his contract expires, is reportedly quite taken by Wojcicki, who is a definite deviation from his usual type.
"Alex and Anne are spending time together and have been on a few dates," a source told Page Six. "It is very new. He finds her interesting, inspirational and very smart."
Rodriguez has been linked to such blonde celebrities as Cameron Diaz, Kate Hudson, Madonna and Torrie Wilson. Unlike these ladies, Wojcicki has the rare distinction of being wealthier than the MLB slugger.
The 14-time All-Star's last serious relationship was with Wilson, but the couple split up in February 2015 for reasons which reportedly included his flirtatious behavior toward other women. They have still remained friends, however.
It appears Rodriguez's new flame is taking things slowly.
